Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you really needed God to fight for you because you were facing a battle and the circumstances felt like they were outside of your control? How did you feel during that time? Most of us probably feel fearful, anxious, vulnerable, and even angry when we go through situations like that, especially when it's over something important in our lives, like our families, our work, our finances, etc. We anxiously try to come up with solutions that will put us back in control again, but any peace we get from temporarily regaining control will only last until we face another situation that is outside of our control.
But, as Christians, the great news is that, in those situations, we don't need to be in control and fight for ourselves because we have the most powerful defender in the universe on our side! The Old Testament shares story after story about how God went before the Israelites in battle, fought on their behalf, and gave their enemies into their hands. There were even times the Israelites didn't even have to lift a finger! In 2 Kings 19:35, the Bible says, "That night the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning--there were all the dead bodies!" God literally took out the Assyrian army while the Israelites were asleep! And 2 Chronicles 20 tells about how God confused the enemy armies that were coming against the Israelites and caused them to destroy each other rather than the Israelites! God is on Your side, and He goes to battle for His people! He is fighting for you, even when you can't fight for yourself, especially when the enemy or circumstances are too much to handle in your own strength.
When we remember that our God is Sovereign over all and fighting every battle on our behalf, that is when we are able to find rest and trust in Him, which leads to true peace, regardless of our circumstances or what comes against us. And whether the outcome turns out the way we wanted it to or not, we can rest assured that His good plans for us will far surpass the good plans we have for ourselves.
But even though we may know all of this already, it can still be hard sometimes to truly trust Him and to have faith that He will work everything out for our good. The enemy, satan, tries to fill our minds with doubt and frustration and even tries to get us to take matters into our own hands. Sometimes, we need the assistance of prayer to overcome the doubt and fear we feel about the uncertainty of a challenging situation that is outside of our control. If that is you, I would recommend to seek out prayer with a trusted friend, with someone in your church, or I would even be happy to pray for you if you want to leave a comment below. Whatever the situation may be, remember that you are not facing the battle alone. It's ok if you're not in control or if you can't fight for yourself because God is on your side, He is in control, and He is fighting for you! ♥
